The SAVE Act thankfully stalled in the Senate. But now Stephen Miller, Trump’s senior adviser and lead on the administration’s draconian immigration policies, is taking it into his own hands. This summer, the America First Legal Foundation, founded by Miller, petitioned the Election Assistance Commission (EAC)—the federal agency in charge of election administration—to change our voter registration processes and require a passport or other citizenship document to prove citizenship when voters register or reregister to vote - thus circumventing Congress to enact the SAVE Act.

Right now, the EAC is collecting public comments on the proposed rule change to require proof of citizenship when registering to vote. And opponents of voting rights have sent a flood of comments in support of the rule change. Last week, in just a 48-hour period, right-wing groups organized people to submit over 200,000 new comments.

Deadline: October 20

To counteract anti-voter organizations, we hope to get 200,000 people from at about 600 Indivisible groups to submit public comments opposing this change.
