Indivisible Ukiah was founded in 2017. Our focus was largely on electoral politics, doing lots of voter registration, postcard parties, etc. However, our environmental working group was key to persuading the city of Ukiah to stop using herbicides in our parks. This was a grassroots volunteer effort and served as our inspiration when restarting Indivisible Ukiah early in 2025.
Our organizing principle is “Community Resilience is the Antidote to Personal Despair.”
We are known for organizing peaceful public demonstrations in support of civil rights, due process, free speech, and participatory democracy. Beyond this, our working groups research local issues, reach out to community allies, and develop actions that support the needs of our local community.
Working groups currently include Civil Rights and Immigration, Environment and Energy, Food and Health, and Local Elections. Others can be formed any time based on members’ interests:
What is most dear to your heart? That’s where you put your energy!
